Regional Setting Team Leader (RSTL)

Pay: Our RSTL rate currently ranges from £152-£168 per day.  Setting days shorter than seven hours or longer than nine hours revert to an hourly rate of £19.00-£21.10 per hour.

Pay reviews are completed for each year of service in addition to an annual company incremental review on 1st July.

For this specific recruitment we are looking for a Route Setter with significant experience (5+ years) and this will be reflected by starting at the higher end of our banded pay system.

Working across all 8 of our London Climbing Centres with our Regional Setting Team, In House Setting Team and Freelance Setters to make creative and interesting routes that are consistent in difficulty across the group as specified by Setting Management.

As the RSTL on a setting day you ensure the Setting Day runs smoothly, using your experience to motivate and inspire the team while maintaining safe working practices. Your focus will be on setting the commercial areas of our centre which require the ability to consistency set and test up to V9.

A typical setting day is 8am-5pm and includes a 20 minute morning break, 1 hour lunch break and 15 minute mandatory warmup time before the afternoon testing session. The average amount of blocs the RSTL sets is 10 per day.

One of your two setting days will usually be at the same centre each week to give you a greater connection with that centre, ensuring better hold/volume rotation and regular input with the In house Setters / Setting Apprentice for that centre. On days where you have an Apprentice on the set, your personal quota is reduced to allow for you to invest in training the Apprentice.

The role of RSTL rarely involves stripping or washing holds as this is completed by our in house teams on the day prior to sets.
