Deputy Roles – CanaryWall, RavensWall & CroyWall

The Deputy Manager position is made up of a primary set of responsibilities which form the core Deputy role. In addition to this, every LCC site has specific needs, requirements & projects to be taken on by the right candidate. You will find these specific areas of responsibility below. The Deputy Manager will learn all the elements of the Centre Manager role whilst acting as Deputy. To better inform candidates as to the scope of the role, we have attached the Centre Manager job descriptions.

All Deputy roles are full-time and typically involve 3 Duty Manager Shifts (one being a weekend day) and 2 Office shifts per week.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Centre Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of the bouldering gym
  • Manage and motivate the team of staff to deliver excellent customer service
  • Ensure the gym is clean, safe and well-maintained at all times
  • Manage cafe stock levels and place orders as needed
  • Assist marketing team in promoting the centre to attract new customers
  • Act as a point of contact for customers and manage customer queries
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies

Requirements:

  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Passion for bouldering and experience in a similar role
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and evenings as required

Desired:

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and experience in risk management
  • First Aid certification

CanaryWall – Deputy Centre Manager

Pay will then be reviewed annually on 1st July each year related to both personal and business performance.

The Centre: CanaryWall is a small bouldering centre across 5 railway arches below the DLR. Indoor and outdoor bouldering, dedicated training cave, onsite shop & café and yoga studio. CanaryWall is open every weekday from 6am to 11pm and 9am-9pm on weekends. CanaryWall has been managed by Centre Manager Sara Petersen since the centre first opened in August 2020. The rest of the team is made up of 1 Senior Duty Manager, 5 Duty Managers and 2 Team Members.

We are looking for a Deputy Centre Manager with a knack for streamlining operations and building organisational systems, a highly organised and dynamic multitasker who enjoys having multiple and varied projects on the go, someone who can support the rest of the team and communicate honestly and effectively. This is an exciting role for someone who wants to be an instrumental part of a growing climbing centre and community in East London.

CanaryWall Specific Projects & Responsibilities:

  • Social media plan for obtaining regular content for posting re:events, socials, new sets etc.
  • Update Staff Training Logs and create a centre-specific staff log for appraisals, staff training, uniform etc
  • Create a log for tracking risk assessment renewals, annual boiler inspections etc in one place.
  • Stock management- stock takes and implementing systems for keeping RGP stock accurate.
  • Yoga Studio- utilise the space by building further revenue streams
  • Café expansion

RavensWall – Deputy Centre Manager

The Centre: Built back in 2019, RavensWall is a community-focused bouldering centre based in the arches under the District Line station of Ravenscourt Park tube station near Hammersmith. Boasting areas for both indoor and outdoor bouldering, RavensWall is open every weekday from 6am to 10:30pm and 9am-9pm on weekends. The centre is located in the heart of a residential community area and has a wide instruction programme running alongside a junior development scheme.

At RavensWall we are looking for someone with an eye for detail who is focused & driven with the capacity to bring projects through to completion. We are committed to championing creating a safe space for diversity with both staff and customers and look for this in our senior management team.

RavensWall Specific Projects & Responsibilities:

  • Supporting in follow-up with parents on NICAS/squad payments/Junior instruction development
  • Social media plan for obtaining regular content for posting re events, socials, new sets etc.
  • Building & maintaining local business relationships
  • Setting related admin – including tweaking sets, Collecting feedback from sets, feeding back to the setting team & support with Griptonite
  • Stock management- stock takes and implementing systems for keeping RGP stock accurate.

CroyWall – Deputy Centre Manager

The Centre: Built back in 2019, CroyWall is a small community-based bouldering centre located on the tram line in Croydon just moments from Wandle Park. The centre is a community hub with a lively and diverse customer base catering to students, families & professionals.

The CroyWall Deputy Centre Manager will take on a variety of projects seeking to boost community engagement in the centre. Taking on the task of creatively crafting engaging events and building a robust programme of activities for the CroyWall social calendar.

CroyWall Specific Projects & Responsibilities:

  • Social media plan for obtaining regular content for posting re events, socials, new sets etc.
  • Update Staff Training Logs and create a centre-specific staff log for appraisals, staff training, uniform etc

Setting – Regional Deputy Setting Manager

Helping strike the balance between centre autonomy and regional consistency is key to efficient management of the growing business. Beyond each regional managers specific duties & responsibilities, the team responsibilities are there to support all levels of management and the broader team.

Required:

Minimum 1 year setting experience 

Experience in an administrative capacity

Minimum 4 years of regular setting experience

HarroWall – Part-Time Kitchen Team Member

Starting Rate £11.00 per hour.

Pay is reivewed on each year of service in addion to an annual company incremental review in July of each year.

The Cafe has grown and developed since we opened in 2018 and is run by a small dedicated team, at quieter points it is solo staffed and on busy weekend or event days there can be up 4 people working as a unit to deliver exceptional service & delicious food to our climbing community.

We are looking for an energetic & motivated Team Member to join our cafe team who has a passion for food preparation, customer service and cleanliness. The ideal candidate would be a passionate climber with a desire to develop further understanding of both the catering and fitness industry. We are looking for someone capable of working independently and as part of the broader cafe team.

Scheduling is managed by the Centre Manager and the Regional management team also provides management support.

This role is a brilliant entry-level role for a junior (16 years+ welcome to apply)

Key responsibilities:

  • Complete all the responsibilities of a Cafe Team Member to an exceptional standard
  • Responsible for preparing food & stock to ensure consistent cafe service
  • Work with the wider HarroWall Team to prepare the cafe for major events
  • Ensure adherence to all food safety standards 

Requirements

  1. A proactive team player
  2. Flexibility, initiative & ability to work independently
  3. A passion for food & customer service

Preferred

  1. Experience in catering is preferred but not required!
