Early morning climbing: why it’s the best time to train this summer
If you’re trying to keep climbing through warmer weather, when you climb matters almost as much as where you climb.
Early morning climbing sessions are cooler, quieter and far more relaxed, which makes them ideal for getting more out of your time on the wall.
Morning climbing is one of the easiest ways to improve session quality during summer. Lower temperatures, fewer people, and calmer walls mean better conditions for technique, movement and repeat attempts, without that post‑work rush
Why pre‑work climbing works so well
There’s a small but committed group of climbers who’ve worked this out already: the morning crew.
They climb early, get their sessions in, and still make it to work on time.
Early morning climbing sessions are particularly good for:
- Relaxed centre atmospheres
- Repeating problems without queues
- Training consistently through the summer
Even if a Magic Time window isn’t strictly pre‑work at your centre, earlier sessions are nearly always calmer and more comfortable than peak hours.

Morning climbing, made easy
All London Climbing Centres are set up to make morning sessions practical, not stressful. Every centre has modern showers and changing facilities, so you can de-chalk and head straight on with your day.
If you work remotely or have flexible hours, our cafés give you the option to sit down with a coffee, use the Wi‑Fi, and ease into work.
Why summer is the best time to start morning climbing
Summer mornings are lighter, calmer, and easier to ease into. Alarms feel less brutal and climbing before work becomes something you actually look forward to.
If you’ve never tried early morning climbing before, this is the best time of year to give it a go. One session is usually enough to understand why people stick with it.
