After careful consideration, consultations with our setting team, and a series of public polls, we’re making some changes to our Permasets.
As the name suggests, the LCC Permasets are permanent circuit of blocs, present at 7 of the 8 London Climbing Centres.
Permasets are set with wooden holds to differentiate them from regularly reset climbs.
The idea of a Permaset is simple; We want to provide our own in-centre benchmark to help climbers track their progress
However, permanent blocs can block setters during regular re-setting, and the blocs are known to get worn down quickly with lots of use.
That’s why we’re making a few changes to keep things fresh, open up more space for our fantastic setting team, and maintain the ethos of the Permaset for years to come.
- We’ll reset the Permasets (many of which have been up for more than 3 years), starting in October at CanaryWall and ending in Spring 2025
- Annual sanding and cleaning of the holds will take place to keep them in good condition
- These Permasets will stay up until 2029
- We’ll reduce the number of Permaset climbs to 6 per centre, with a grade range of V3-V8
- We’ll no longer have a Permaset at HarroWall, where they tend to clash with the larger comp-style holds and volumes that we use around the centre
- We’ll not be adding a Permaset to EustonWall, for the same reasons as HarroWall
