As we’re all aware, inflation is hitting both households and businesses hard. Prices have rocketed across the board, from coffee beans to utilities, and even climbing holds.

We’ve also increased our investment in our most important resource; upping our team’s pay by an average of 6% in 2021 and a further 6% this year.

With this in mind, we’ve made some minor tweaks to some of our memberships, perks, and pricing.

These will ensure that we can still deliver the premium climbing experience that you expect from us for many years to come, with constant reinvestment in improvements, new climbing holds, and the evolution of our multigym offering across the capital.

Super Off-Peak and Tiered Pricing

From 1st August Super Off-Peak times will change at BethWall, CanaryWall, and RavensWall, while BethWall and CanaryWall will move up to our standard tiered pricing:

  • Super Off-Peak at BethWall will move to Saturday 8-10am
  • Super Off-Peak at CanaryWall will move to Sunday 9-11am
  • Super Off-Peak at RavensWall moves to Friday 6am-4pm
  • BethWall and CanaryWall move from lower-tier to standard Day Pass pricing

Pre-paid Membership Increases

From 1st August, 6 and 12 month pricing for pre-paid memberships will be as follows:

6-month pre-paid membership (5% saving over recurring memberships)

  • Off-peak – £285 – (£47.50 a month)
  • Concession – £342 – (£57 a month)
  • Adult Anytime – £399 – (£66.50 a month)

12-month pre-paid membership (10% saving over recurring memberships)

  • Off-peak – £540 – (£45 a month)
  • Concession – £648 – (£54 a month)
  • Adult Anytime – £756 – (£63 a month)

Until 1st August, you can extend your existing pre-paid membership by 6 or 12 months, or switch from recurring to pre-paid, at the current prices online by heading here.

If you already have a pre-paid membership we’ll simply add on the extra months. If you’re on a recurring membership, we’ll switch over your membership from 1st August.

Membership Perks

From 1st August members will get the brilliant new perk of 10% off all café items at any centre.

Members will also be entitled to 1 free hot drink only before 11am on weekdays, replacing the free off-peak hot drink perk.

All other perks remain the same, so you’ll get;

  • Two free guest passes per month for new climbers
  • Unlimited towel hire
  • 10% off retail items in on-site shops
  • Fast-track access to 7 (soon to be 8) premium climbing centres across London, including the capital’s only BMC National Performance Centre at HarroWall

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

VauxWall, HarroWall, CroyWall, RavensWall, CanaryWall and BethWall are facilities of The Lakeland Climbing Centre Limited. We are driven by our passion for climbing and the positive effect it can bring to everyone’s lives. Our London facilities set a new standard for accessible, clean and constantly evolving indoor climbing. In partnership with our customers, staff, sponsors and suppliers, we have created and continue to develop friendly, efficient and safety-conscious centres of excellence that everyone can enjoy. Strong links with our northern centres will provide opportunities for customers and staff to continue their journey into the diverse sport of climbing in the stunning Lake District National Park.

WHY WORK FOR THE LAKELAND CLIMBING CENTRE LTD?

From our northern roots to our London expansion, we have developed an environment for excellent customer service born out of a happy, supportive and proactive team. LCC’s top priorities are its customers and staff; we want to create and maintain great places to work and climb. Free climbing, discounts with local businesses, financial support for continued professional development, flexible working hours and competitive rates of pay are the key benefits.

How would you like to win a custom CroyWall Tee, be in with a chance of winning a pair of Evolv climbing shoes, AND spread the climbing love, all at the same time?

Introducing the refer-a-friend campaign, ‘You’re my Croy-Don’, running at CroyWall over the next two months.

How does it work?

All you have to do to be given a loyalty stamp card (as pictured above) during your next visit is bring along a friend who hasn’t climbed with us before.

For each friend you bring you’ll get a stamp (you can also earn stamps when your referred friend signs up to a 10/20 climb punchcard or a membership).

  • 1 stamp gets you and your friend a free hot drink of your choice.
  • 3 stamps gets you a free entry, which you can use yourself, give to your mate, or donate to our chosen charity.
  • 5 stamps gets you an exclusive Croy-Don Tee (more on that in a second) and entry into a raffle to win a pair of Evolv shoes. That’s right, your choice of shoe. From the aggressive Phantoms (£145) to the legendary Shamans (£130), you have a free pick of any pair of Evolv climbing shoe, thanks to our friends at Beyond Hope UK and Evolv.
  • You don’t need to stop at 5 either. Keep bringing friends, and for every 5 more you bring you’ll earn another raffle entry, increasing your chances of winning those shoes.

Don’t forget, if you’re a member you get two guest passes to use each month too!

The exclusive Croy-Don Tee

Okay, so we’re pretty proud of this one. Designed* by the newest member of the CroyWall team, the one and only Tom, I think we can all agree it’s about as Croydon as Fairfield Halls or Reeves Corner.

All you need to do to win it is bring 5 friends along for their first climb. Simple.

*The above is our current mock-up of the tee design, but colours and the exact placement of the rear graphic may change when printed. However it ends up, it’s going to look sweet. Guaranteed.

Terms and Conditions

  • The CroyWall Refer-a-friend, summer of climbing campaign will run from July 1st to August 31st 2021. It is a campaign designed to bring new climbers to CroyWall and grow the community by rewarding existing LCC members who bring their friends.
  • Each referred climber must be new to LCC, though not necessarily new to climbing. There is no limit on how many friends can be brought, or rewards gained.
  • Only new climbers to LCC in the window brought to CroyWall are considered valid referrals for this campaign.
  • A stamp can be gained by bringing a new, willing friend to CroyWall as their first climb at an LCC site and/or having any such referred friend commit to buying any membership or 10+ punches.
  • A friend can only generate 2 stamps maximum, one for initial sign up and another for their first membership/punch purchase.
  • Any membership can be purchased but the stamp will be voided if said friend requests a refund of their purchase.
  • A friend who is brought using the members guest pass feature will still generate a stamp.
  • A valid referred friend must not have climbed with LCC before and must complete their registration at CroyWall specifically to generate a stamp.
  • Concessions and juniors count as valid friends. Off peak vs on-peak does not impact referral in any way. Member’s guest passes can be used in conjunction with this campaign.
  • The list of existing LCC sites is: VauxWest, VauxEast, Harrowall, Croywall, Ravenswall, Canarywall and Bethwall.
  • Upon reaching 5 stamps, you will be asked for your t shirt size and this will be stored for the purpose of ordering shirts at the end of campaign. If you do not wish to share this information we will order a medium. All shirts will be unisex.
  • The t shirt prize will be distributed at the end of the campaign. The shirt must be collected from CroyWall, if you have mitigating circumstances please contact us separately to resolve.
  • The grand prize is a pair of Evolv climbing shoes (your choice and in your size)
  • The winner of the grand prize will be randomly selected from the list of qualifying entrants. You can have multiple entries to the prize draw if you fill multiple punch cards.
  • There are no exclusions to who can enter the competition however existing LCC staff are excluded from the grand prize draw.
  • Should two existing LCC climbers arrive with a single friend, it is up to them to decide who gets the referral stamp from the new climber.
  • The two hot drinks for the first stamp must be claimed in that first session and can be any hot drink available in the café.
  • The free entry is a single punch that can be:
    • Added to the referrer’s account
    • Added to any referee’s account
    • Added to a community pool to be donated to disadvantaged climbers, nearby charities and or schools
  • The t shirt reward is a limited edition, single run shirt designed for the campaign and will not be re-issued. They will be ordered at the close of the campaign and made available ASAP. Posts will be made on social media when they are available to be collected. Paid entry to CroyWall not required to collect prizes.
  • The winner of the grand prize will be drawn on Sept 1st and announced on social media and emailed to inform them of their victory. If you do not wish to be emailed about this, please inform us in advance.
  • No cash prizes or alternatives are available
  • By entering the competition you are agreeing to accept these Terms and Conditions. Any breach of these Terms and Conditions by you will mean that your entry will not be valid, and you will not be allowed to enter this competition.
  • If you attempt to share cards or stamp your own card without referring a friend you are liable to be removed from the competition and have any prizes accrued to date waived.
  • We are also tracking the number of referrals on RockGym Pro and in case of dispute, this information will be the final verdict.
  • Any additional personal information you give us will be used solely for this competition and will not be passed on to any other parties.

What an incredible turnout to the second CroyComp of the year! It was great seeing everyone crushing all the climbs around the centre. A huge thank you to our incredible setters Steve Tucker, Tayla Bick, Callum Taylor and Lucas Perry-Hill for setting some smashing blocks!

As usual, there was a Fun Comp and Main Comp. With prizes for the winners of the Main Comp – everyone who enters the Fun Comp goes into a raffle prize draw, so you were in for a chance of winning a prize just by entering! Now onto fun extras! Massive community vibes on this one and we were SO psyched to see you all there!

We were delighted to be joined by the RSPCA who had a stall – this was a comp with a huge difference where EVERYONE was encouraged TO BRING THEIR DOGS! The treats were free-flowing along with cupcakes & lollipops, temporary tattoos, guess the number of dog biscuits to win £20.

BLACK LIZARD brought in some trad gear plus there were a couple of talks about trad climbing, mountaineering, the trips they do, how you can get involved

Our key favourite element of this event: the optional animal fancy dress! We had some superb climbers who dressed for the Comp in animal fancy dress which were all delightful and impressive.

Congrats to the winners of our Main Comp!

We are rather excited to announce that:

➡️ We are removing pre-booking for independent climbing at VauxWall East and West from 1st April You can simply pay on arrival or self check-in if you have a membership or punch card.

➡️ You will no longer need to ‘check out’ at any of our walls

Now that the busiest months of the fitness calendar are over and the number of excellent climbing facilities in London has grown, we are less likely to reach capacity as often. Members and punch card holders will of course be given priority entry in the event that we do reach capacity.

As ever, we encourage all our climbers to avail themselves of our extensive opening times. Please note that between 6.30 pm and 8 pm Tuesday to Thursday are the busiest times for our two Zone 1 centres.

Making the Most of our Walls

Love VauxWall West? Of course you do! We all do. But sometimes we’re looking for a quieter climb so here’s a reminder that VauxWall East is just a short walk from VauxWall West. Between these two walls, we have over 430 blocs that are reset regularly. We have invested in lots of exciting new holds in the past few months, and from summer 2022, we are speeding up the changeover of blocs to seven weeks to ensure there is a fresh bouldering area every week at East and West. In addition, traverse walls and circuit boards will be completed on extra setting days. With spring arriving, why not walk a few extra minutes through the park to get to VauxWall East and mix up your sessions!

Thank You  ❤️

The booking system and the need to check out were necessities throughout the worst of the pandemic, and we just want to thank our entire community for embracing these additional processes. We are excited to get back to an even smoother check-in process to help you get on the wall even faster!

Top Tip: You can purchase punch cards and memberships direct from the Prices page of our website to make check-in even quicker & simpler.

Thanks to everyone for coming to our first comp of 2022.

There was an incredible turnout and was great to see so many people coming down for their first CroyComp!

A huge thank you to our incredible setters Steve Tucker, Tayla Bick, Tom Peel and Callum Taylor for setting some great blocs!

Dear climbers,

Top up your punch cards at 2021 prices this December and beat our small price increase.

Thank you for your ongoing support through the pandemic and for trusting us with your climbing safety in these unusual times.

To ensure we continue to cover our growing overheads, there will be an average 3% increase in entry prices from 1st January 2022. With our seven centres, fantastic membership perks, long opening hours, extensive off-peak times, over 200 fresh blocs per week and a welcoming team, we continue to work hard to give you value for money. We are also adding two additional off-peak opening hours at HarroWall by opening from 8am on weekends from January.

The expansion of CanaryWall, VauxWall West and the addition of the heating/cooling system at VauxWall East shows our commitment to continued investment in our centres. We have recently placed orders for £50,000 of new holds for our centres to mix up your climbing in the new year. Since maintaining our team through the pandemic and topping up furlough pay, we have also increased pay by an average of 6%, both improving starter rates and rewarding length of service by introducing a banded pay system. Our centres are only as good as the teams that staff them and our continued reputation for excellent customer service means the world to us.

It’s not all going up. Day pass rates at CanaryWall, CroyWall and BethWall Green are actually going down and we are introducing a £5 entry super off-peak time period once a week at each of our seven centres. This is to ensure we are not creating financial barriers to starting our fantastic sport.

6-month and 12-month memberships are now permanent products and these new memberships give the option to make climbing with us even more economical.

Our 6-month memberships give you a 7% discount over 2022 recurring membership prices

Our 12-month memberships give you a 15% discount over 2022 recurring membership prices

These new memberships are available to purchase now. It’s easy to switch your recurring membership to a prepaid membership should you wish and any of our reception teams can complete this for you with no days lost that you have already paid for.

A reminder of our fantastic membership perks:

  • Unlimited entries to all LCC London Centres* (with no-hassle self-check-in)
  • 1 free hot drink per day at any off-peak time
  • 10% off retail items in our onsite shops
  • 2 guest passes per month (new customers only)
  • Unlimited towel hire

*Pre-booking is still required for peak times at VauxWall East & West, but we are working hard to optimise safe access.

Extra special December 2021 Offer: Buy a 6-month or 12-month prepaid membership in December 2021 and you can take advantage of 20% off retail items at the same time. These retail items must be purchased at the same time as your membership.

Hello everyone!

We have a few announcements for 2022! Firstly, we will be open on New Years from 9am – 5pm so any keen beans can come climb. The perfect way to start the new year.

As it is still cold, we recommend climbers to warm up for longer. You can even grab our infamous deluxe hot chocolate before your climb to help warm those fingers! We look forward to seeing everyone back from the holidays ready to crush those climbs!
